About LAKIFA

Who are we?

10-year experience allowed the Association of Latvian Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (LAKIFA) to become one of the most influential professional associations in Latvia respected by the government, Parliament, ministries and agencies. The Association participates in development of legislation through various advisory councils and task groups or by its involvement in direct dialogue with responsible ministries. Participation in leading European chemical, maintenance products and cosmetic industry associations provides us with all the information we need. It gives opportunity to effectively formulate our opinion and defend interests of Latvian companies also at the European level.

Association’s experience and expertise allows LAKIFA to offer individual consultancy and training to its members that is of particular importance to small and medium-sized companies, which are not able to accomplish all tasks on their own.

LAKIFA membership brings together companies across many sectors. It is the combined reputation and strength of this membership that enables LAKIFA to be not only the leading association in chemical, pharmaceutical, household chemical and cosmetics sectors, but also one of the most influential industry associations in Latvia. On our initiative legislation has been changed, likewise its improper implementation by surveillance bodies has been corrected.

LAKIFA members

LAKIFA members are enterprises dealing with pharmaceutical and chemical products, industrial chemicals, maintenance chemicals and cosmetic products, processors of plastics, manufacturers of paints, varnishes and rubber, manufacturers of paper and glass fibres.

Representing chemical industry in various governmental institutions, councils, working groups, we believe that assistance in drafting effective legislation provides better operating environment for everyone. We are also convinced that it is vital for members to get involved, feel a part of this process and understand the relevance of work being done on their behalf.

This enables us to be the only industry branch in Latvia whose members jointly continuously improve performance in the areas of environment, safety and health. Sharing the best practices within voluntary Responsible Care programme is of particular importance to small companies that do not have resources of the biggest companies.
